Practice tests for GMAT

by Rahuloberai83 » Thu Apr 08, 2010 9:42 pm
Hi all,

I have been writing practice tests from Veritas / 800 / MBA and getting 650 -600 consistently (written 13 tests so far). The problem is that there is no pattern in incorrect questions. Is it lethargy as the only problem is I tend to get uneasy when i have completed an hour in the test.

How can I get over this 650 Mark! can you suggest some last practice sites / downloads
Also, how indicative are Veritas /800 / MBA.com scores.

Thanks
Rahul O

Dear Rahul,

My take is "U need to improve ur endurance+concentration".

One best way is : Convince your Mind+ heart saying that your are cool & good at controlling your brain thoughts!!

As u said u get restless after 1 hr, that's a very common issue with every one..U will feel the pain at th end of 3 hrs , while giving Verbal where ur brain nerves will be twisted & entangled/strained to figure our the CR..wow..That is the ultimate class of GMAT!!

My suggestion is control breathing. Make it a practice.!! See to that your subconscious brain & your real cognitive skills are in sync while your are answering SC/CR/RC questions.

Problem solving is a cakewalk but DS wont be . So try to map ur inbuilt Subconscious mind with real world.

You might also want to consider purchasing a Manhattan GMAT book ($28 in bookstores, cheaper online), which will give you access to six online practice tests. MGMAT tests are particularly great for testing your stamina and focus, since many of the math questions seem to be wordier and tougher than those on the real tests.

The MBA.com practice test scores are the most accurate by far, and are usually a pretty good indicator of how you would score on the real test. In my experience, Veritas and 800 score tests aren't great predictors of actual test scores, but at least they'll give you some valuable practice with the format and timing.

Good luck!
