MGMAT vs GMATPrep

by melguy » Sat Oct 22, 2011 3:25 am
Hello All

My desired score is 620-630. I have been giving MGMAT exams and getting in the low 600 or 590's consistently. Q ranging from 36 to 41 and verbal ranging from 33 to 35. So i decided to book my exam on 31 Oct. But today when i sat a GMAT prep I got only shocking 510 Q 35 V 25.

I had this score exact score (510 Q 35 V 25) 4 months ago in the official exam. I have done 2-3 months of thorough maths study and improved my SC a lot. Today i got 17 verbal wrong and 8 of which were just silly SC mistakes (may be i was having a bad day)!!

I am very upset. I work full time and from the past 2-3 months all i have done is work and study regularly and as much as i can. Now looking at the GMAT prep scores i dont know what to do :( i am just too dumb for GMAT :(

What should i do?

That's odd...because I find the MGMAT CATs significantly more difficult than the GMATPrep ones.

I've never broken the 710 barrier on MGMAT, or scored above a 48 on quant.

I'm on my last two weeks of prep, and I just keep taking MGMAT CATs (the quant section only). Every single one of their CATs invariably throws me at least a handful of questions that induces a flurry of obscenities and a subsequent uneducated guess.

So I don't know...try taking GMATPrep2? Maybe you just had a bad day.

Thanks a lot for your reply.I actually find it the other way round. I find MGMAT easy and GMATPrep scares the heck out of me..hence i was very scared before i even touched it.

I will do the second GMATPrep and I will try doing one MGMAT too to see where I stand.

Thanks!
