I am taking the GMAT in about a week's time.
About 3 months ago, without sufficient practice and without finishing the test, I score 460 and 6 on AWA (my only consolation).
My aim is to get high 600s.
I have been rigorously practicing 2 hrs a day for about 2 months. My methodology has been doing 10 sets of questions for each section every other day. So for instance, monday is verbal, tuesday is quant.... and so on.
In quant, I have managed to perfectly pinpoint my weaknesses.
They are:
1. number properties
2. inequalities
3. combinations + probability
I have finished both the OG verbal and quant review 12 ed. Results in both were pretty good.
I kept an error log. In quant, towards the end, the questions got harder and I could sense it. From averaging 8 out of 10 questions correct, by the end of the more challenging questions, I got 6 out of 10 correct.
In Verbal, results from that were pretty consistent, hitting 7/8 out of 10 correect.
I have also subscribed to MGMAT's CAT test and question banks.
Having done 3 CAT tests, I have scored low 600s in all 3 of them. My verbal score was poor and didnt not reflect the level I was performing with the OG. My immediate aim is to improve on verbal, as I believe for now that it is the one element that can substantially improve my score.
Results from question banks do not reflect this or my good performace in OG verbal and quant. They were time, 50 minutes on a section of 25 questions. I got most of the questions in all the sections on the question bank wrong. It was just a huge blow. As a general statement, I got most of the 600-700 and 700-800 wrong, and all the questions below 600 level correct.
I don't know what happened!!
On one hand, I felt the MGMAT questions were harder. I am not sure if it was nerves or what. I am definitely underperforming....
I haven't given the GMAC prep a go yet because I don't want to waste my only 2 chances. And I have been trying MGMAT mainly because I wanted to be more comfortable at looking at the screen and get used to a computer exam.
My confidence is at a low. I have been reading on the "I just beat the GMAT" section, looking for tips and suggestions. I feel inferior.
Please advise.
