All,

Can you please help me assess my profile - targeting R1 deadlines :

GMAT 670 ( Have attempted thrice, but wasn't able to push score to 700+)
Nationality : India
Gender : Male

Undergraduate Study : Engineering Degree in Computer Science -2010 - 71%( from Govt. Engg. college)
#Headed IEEE & CSI committee.

Work Experience : Total : (November 2010 - Till date)
# Accenture Services Pvt Ltd - Software Engineer ( till Dec. 2012)
# Ernst & Young - Senior Consultant - Business Advisory Services

Key highlights of work experience :
1.Currently leading a team of global Business Owners & IT SME's across 4 geographies for SAP Transformation , resulting to YoY € 6 million saving for a large FMCG client
2.Formulated & pitched technology transformation Solutions to Fortune 500 clients & contributed to 1 Million USD business growth.
3.Led a team of 4 consultants for SAP strategy & implementation project for one of the largest CNR client - 65.9 Billion USD
4.Four promotions in four years till date.

CSR :
#Actively working as a member of NGO from college days, helped in fund raising and part of skill based program operated by them.
#My family runs a NGO & have been involved from fund raising to execution stage.



Short term Goal :Transition from Technology to Strategy roles.

Long term Goal : Promote family NGO to international level.


Target Colleges :
1.INSEAD
2.US ranked 15-25 colleges

Hello there Singh,

Thanks for dropping by.

So let's have a look at your profile:

The Good stuff:
- Great employers, and nice progress!
- Seemingly strong NGO work
- Leadership experience!

The Challenges:
- Indian/Male applicant
- With so-so GMAT esp. for Indian/Male (sorry dude... )
- Non-IIT/NIT grad

Okay so that will make a school like INSEAD a bit tough. Not impossible mind you, but tough. You should maybe also think about HEC is you are looking at INSEAD with your GMAT.

I think in the US 15-30 is about fair for you, and your self-analysis is right on.

The main advice I could give you is:
1. USE for strengths: esp. your very well-known employers... It's your best leverage
2. be UNIQUE. I can't emphasize this enough. Schools will be willing to take a risk with your lower GMAT if they believe you will contribute more than other Male/Indian candidates with a higher GMAT. You just have to show them how!

Hi Singh,

I have to concur with the previous poster: your chances currently for INSEAD are low, but your profile is a fit for top 15-25 US. Now, if you want to become a contender for INSEAD, unfortunately that leaves you with two choices: take the GMAT examination again or take the GRE. I can't seem to say this enough, but the GMAT is not the only test-key of entry into a top MBA program. The GRE covers very similar topics and is often used by test takers who simply do not find the GMAT a good fit.

Have you considered taking this examination? You can find free and official GRE software to gauge your level here: https://www.ets.org/gre/revised_general ... powerprep2. Just keep in mind, there's no point to settle until you've exhausted all your options.
