my fellow warriors,

I have been preparing for GMAT for a month with self study but recently enrolled into VeritasPrep course and it is running into my 3rd week and took the first test last weekend and and this weekend, I took GmatPrep test.

Test Date Verbal score Quant score Total score
800score 2009-11-07 32 32 540
GMATPrep 2009-11-15 21 35 470

During my analysis of GmatPrep, I have noticed that most of my questions that were incorrect is in DataSufficicency questions and in Verbal, i found few of them in Sentence Correction, Critical reasoning and few in RC.

I have learnt Critical reasoning in my veritasprep class and also i did some practice but during the test, when I find strenthen question, i am not able to recollect my strategy like once i find my conclustion and i need to find my premise and look for choices which will strengthen the conclusion. It seems my strategies in CR havent got into my muscle memory or actionable meaning without thinking, i should be able to do it.

Also, i spend good amount of 3 hrs on geometry as i wanted to strenthen my subject expertise in geometry but i got one problem in geometry and i could not solve it. probability, i havent mastered yet and so with standard deviation.

Also, i have noticed my classes or during my self study, i am enjoying Quant but with verbal such as Critical reasoning, I am dreading. sentence correction, i like them but on the exam, few questions, i am able to zero-in on two choices but picked up wrong choice like impulsive decision.

Also, I ran out of time both on Verbal and Quant, so in the end, i am forced to guess(there is no time for educated guess) as I come to like 1 minute for 1 question so I was picking up choices blindly and this would have cost me score.

Still, i am not getting the magic pill that i read here people are scoring 700+ and i am still not able to score even 600.

Also,i have noticed that in Quant, i have 19 incorrect questions and in verbal, around 20 questions are incorrect.

I was disappointed last night with my latest score.

Also, I havent made any Study plan yet and i should do one immediately. Also, it seems i might have not made overall improvement in all areas where i took time to improve my subject expertise only in geometry, algebra while i neglected other areas in my last week study.

awaiting all you guys opinion, but dont discourage like that's what my capabilities are as I know, i might be not giving my best effort yet.

Thank you for the creator of this website, forum as this is only website i am browsing to find some motivation and help useful and seems more interactive and diverse.

Welcome to the community! :)

The experts on this website are not supposed to answer member questions over private message or e-mail, since it prevents others in the community from learning as well. Let's try to keep this discussion public and learn together.

With regard to your original post, I'm still not clear about what your target GMAT score is. Are you shooting for a 700+? If so, it's going to take a lot of work to improve your score by that much--not impossible, I've seen it done, but pretty difficult.

A study plan is definitely a great place to start. Two resources I would like to direct you to:
  • Beat The GMAT Blog - This was my day-to-day study blog for tackling the test, and it is one example of a study plan that you might be able to model.
  • GMAT Resources Directory - A collection of great free GMAT resources and posts to help you in master specific areas of your strategy.
Good luck! Keep up your great attitude and please keep leveraging our community for support. We are a really friendly bunch and want to see you succeed.

Thanx moderator for your response,

When I meant to ask Stacey or Instructors out there for their feedback throug PM, I wanted to request them to look at my post and respond in the forum only as sometimes I am eager to get feedback instead of waiting or sometimes Instructors might never look for days as I dont expect them to look every day or time to respond to my post. that's all i meant but not to solicit their feedback through PM. As matter of fact, i am surprised of the PM capability in this forum as I haven't seen elsewhere.

Also, thanx for your links and will check it out.

To tell you the importance of beatthegmat, i am currently enrolled in VeritasPrep and we have our own forume but I am giving importance to look at this website with my l imited time I can focus on my Gmat study.

Again, thanx for reminding me that you are friendly guys and also this website is more objective, meaning all the prep courses out their particpate and that way we can learn best from all best out there.

my target score is 700 but again i am not sure how feasible is that and want to be practical, so 680-700 is also Ok.

Any Instructors or Stacey out there to give your feedback.

appreciate it.
