At the end of the day, February 14th, a florist had 120 roses left in his shop, all of which were red, white or pink in color and either long or short-stemmed. A third of the roses were short-stemmed, 20 of which were white and 15 of which were pink. The percentage of pink roses that were short-stemmed equaled the percentage of red roses that were short-stemmed. If none of the long-stemmed roses were white, what percentage of the long-stemmed roses were red?

(A) 20%
(B) 25%
(C) 50%
(D) 75%
(E) 80%

Total number of roses=120
Number of short-stemmed =120*1/3=40
white short-stemmed roses=20
pinkshort-stemmed roses=15
red short-stemmed roses=40-(20+15)=5

total long -stemmed roses=120-40=80

let x be the number of long stemmed pink roses
so 80-x is the number of long stemmed red roses

so 5/(80-x) =15/x
or x=240-3x
or x=60

so long stem red roses=80-60=20=25%

Ans option B

120=roses
roses color=pink, red or white
rosed type=short or long stemmed

third of rose were shortstemmed=(1/3)*120=40
white=20,pink=15,red=5

roses which are long stemmed long stemmed=80
red roses which are long stemmed be x
pink roses which are long stemmed be 80-x

x+5=100
5=T1
T1=500/(x+5)


80-x+15=100
15=T2
T2=1500/(95-x)

given T1=T2
500/(x+5) = 1500/(95-x)

1/(X+5)=3/(95-X)
95-X=3X+15
4X=80
X=20

20 is 25% of 80
hence answer is B

It should be :

5/ (80-x +5) & 15/(x+15)
