Does anyone know whether B-schools value a degree or diploma that one has obtained through a distance learning course from an not so well known university?

This degree is a post graduate degree. But the courses were taken in a pure self study mode with absolutely no class room interactions. There was no web based instructor led teaching as well.

Any inputs on how to cover this in B-school App? Is it better to add it as an additional coursework or a graduate degree?

Hi

Where is this degree accredited to?

Mention it as an additional coursework. The effect may be of you getting a degree but it was just an additional coursework.

Do you want to get points for that?

Hi GirlinBlack,

If you indeed earned a degree through this program, you should probably note that in your application as well as submit your transcript. This is a time when I think it would be best to call the admissions office of 1-2 of your target schools and ask them about this. Admissions consultants like me are often working from past experience but the admissions office can give you a DEFINITIVE answer. Don't ever worry that it will count against you to ask about an unclear situation like this. I call admissions offices all the time when I am not 100% sure about something and they never ask for my name or if I'm applying, etc.

Good luck!

I think it will depend on the B School you apply to. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with a degree through distance learning, as long as you did the work to earn it, which should be evident in your transcripts.
