I don't think there would be any comparison. You obviously are referring to the verbal section(and that too just the reading sub-section of verbal and the writing(essay) section).

If you compare (based upon those sections) the IELTS and the GMAT, GMAT is way harder than IELTS. So to answer your question, yes IELTS is easier than GMAT. And that's not just what I think, that's a fact.

IELTS tests your ability to read/write language, whereas GMAT tests (in addition to the abilities mentioned before) reasoning skills, elimination strategies and basically everything else that a management person may need in their job or during their MBA. See the difference?

IELTS is a test that needs to be taken by not just an "MBA" applicant(who may prefer TOEFL depending upon where they are applying). IELTS also needs to be taken by your average guy from xyz country with (say) an arts background, who just needs to go for higher study in his own field at some foreign university, where the demand for language is not that high.

For MBA students, language is extremely important, but so is the ability to dissect information and arguments. So that is why when it comes to such tests as IELTS and TOEFL, B-schools ask for really high scores.

The reason why this post has not received any replies is because the comparison itself is not relevant.

The BTG community can help you achieve your target score, which I see is 650! So forget about this and focus on that.

Hope this helps.
