Hello Stacey,

I had a question regarding Columbia RD Applications. Assuming I secure the GMAT score I am hoping to attain come December, do you think it makes sense to apply to a school such as Columbia which has rolling admissions system? I understand that the chances are almost 50/50 in R1 or R2 if one applies to the other schools but for rolling admissions it is advisable to apply sooner than later. In such a case, if I were to apply by the end of Dec., do you think it might not be worth applying at all?

Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks,
2010aspirant_04

Dear 2010aspirant_04,

Rolling admissions means that applicants are evaluated as they come in, and then decisions are usually sent out as they are made. Nevertheless, there is no evidence to suggest a larger number of applicants are admitted in rolling admissions or even that decisions are made more quickly than with schools that have decision rounds. Thus you just want to get your application into Columbia by middle-to-end of January to be in the mix with the majority of applicants.

Good luck,
Lisa
