GMAT Advice and Strategy needed

by Pman » Wed Jul 08, 2009 4:00 pm
Hi guys, just had a general question to ask regarding how to move forward to a higher GMAT score.

I prepped for about a week or so for the GMAT and scored a 690 (38V, 47Q, 6.0AWA) using odd questions from the official guide and the McGraw-Hill GMAT 2009 book (which was really good!), but i'm looking to retake the GMAT to get over the 740+ barrier. The reason for doing so is just to put that academic area out of question for adcom since i'm a young applicant (college senior).

So the question here is with all that, i'm looking for which books and tests I should be looking at to prep further and get above to that score. Thanks!

There are plenty of resources you haven't used. My recommendations:
- buy the OG supplements (green and purple books) for more official practice
- PowerScore CR Bible if CR is one of your weaknesses
- also, the MGMAT series is highly regarded on this forum, so you might want to take a look at those as well and buy 1-2 depending on your weak spots
- I used Kaplan Premier, but I'm not sure if it's really worth buying, seen as how you've already used a general book (at least I think that's what the McGraw-Hill book is).
