C Opposite of
D Unlike
E In spite of

Why not B?

ANS IS A

ALL B,C,D AND E ARE INCORRECT as all have similar usage as UNLIKE Tthat is

UNLIKE x,y

here Y commigg after the comma must be parallet to X.

simillarly in other constructions.

but
victors are not parallel to popular beliefs.

So, only A is correct.
