It has recently been shown that SIDS likely occurs more due to the fact that persistent high levels of hemoglobin are found in infants suffering from the syndrome than lung immaturity.

due to the fact that persistent high levels of hemoglobin are found in infants suffering from the syndrome than lung immaturity

due to persistent high levels of hemoglobin being found in infants suffering from the syndrome than to lungs maturing improperly

because infants suffering from the syndrome exhibit persistent high levels of hemoglobin than that their lungs are too immature

because of the finding of persistent high levels of hemoglobin in infants suffering from the syndrome than because of the improper maturing of the lungs

because infants suffering from the syndrome exhibit persistent high levels of hemoglobin than because their lungs mature improperly

Difference between C and E. I picked C instead of checking E, which is more concise. But is there any other issue in C, apart from concision.

C is not parallel. MORE BECAUSE.......THAN THAT....

That should have been because.

There is a change in meaning between D and E.

Q: Why does SIDS occur more?
- because infants suffering from the syndrome exhibit persistent high levels of hemoglobin OR
- because of the persistent high levels of hemoglobin in infants

NOT because of the finding of persistent high levels of hemoglobin in infants

"high levels of hemoglobin" causes SIDS, not the "finding of high levels of hemoglobin".

D - (1) SIDS occurs because of THE FINDINGS (not correct meaning); SIDS occurs because of high levels...
(2) THE FINDINGS OF is generally used when we literally found something - eg the findings of pre-historic bones in a cave ...
(3) IMPROPER MATURING OF LUNGS of what? - SIDS occurs because of the IMPROPER MATURING OF LUNGS?
