Application form question

by Saffa » Wed Sep 17, 2008 11:46 am
HI Stacey (and anyone who wants to comment),

I'm applying to a South African MBA (at UCT) and would like some assistance in completing my application form.

The application form has gone through all the essays (which I've written), my CV (which states my accomplishments, experience and skills) and then there is a last question on the application form. This question has space for about 140 words and I don't want my application to look empty nor lose the opportunity to sell myself.

"What other accomplishments, experience or skills do you have that you would like to be taken into consideration in support of this application?"

Should I summarize my main points on my CV?

Any comments will be appreciated.

Questions like this give you the opportunity to address points not covered by the other questions. Do NOT use it as a general summary of your CV.

Review your other answers and ask yourself "is there anything I want the school to know (because it will help my application) that I haven't squeezed into another essay?" It's hard to give specific advice without knowing the other questions and more about you, but consider things like great extracurriculars and exceptional life experiences that you've had. You could also mention multilingualism or professional accreditations (but make whatever you say interesting!)

Dear Saffa,

I would concur with Stuart on this one. Repeating what you already have in other parts of your application is not what the school is looking for here.

Good luck,
Lisa
