Hi pwmac17,
Tier One consulting firms (i.e. MBB) have relationships with both programs but do not consider either to be a strategic partner. While it is possible to get place at one of these firms through these programs, it is a small number of the class each year.
Tier Two consulting firms (e.g. Deloitte) actively recruit at both firms and it will come down to the type of consulting you are targeting. For example, McCombs tends to be higher valued in terms of Accounting and Information Systems whereas UNC has a strong General Management and Healthcare focus. The same firms will recruit at both programs and if they have a generalist path, you will most likely be placed on that. However, picking an MBA at least generally aligned with your area of interest (be it technology or purely general, etc.) will serve you best.
In short, firms view the schools comparably but may recruit for differing positions and, of course, differing geographies.
I hope that helps!
