Farm Tax is levied on the 60% of the cultivated Land. The tax department collected total $ 3840 through the farm Tax from the village of Mr. willam. Mr. willam paid only $ 480 as farm tax. The percentage of total land of Mr. willam over the total taxable land of the village is :

A)15%
B)25%
C)0.125%
D)0.2083%
E)none

We know that $3840/.6 as $480/x.

This gives us 3840x = .6*480, or x = 288 / 3840 = .075.

Since 7.5% isn't one of our four numbered options, the answer must be E.

I should point out that I made a number of assumptions in that solution, since the prompt is pretty unclear. (And even if my attempt to interpret the shoddy prompt is right, the prompt might still be asking for William's % / Total %, which would be 7.5/60, or 12.5%, but that isn't one of the four options either, so we're still safe with E.)
