Is quadrilateral ABCD= rhombus?

1) AC & BD are perpendicular bisector

2) ABCD = square

Statement 1: AC & BD are perpendicular bisector
Hence, ABCD is a kite, which may or may not be a rhombus.

Not sufficient

Statement 2: ABCD is a square
All squares are rhombuses.
Therefore, ABCD is a rhombus.

Sufficient

The correct answer is B.

Is there a reason this out using basic geometric rules rather than memorizing properties of each shape?

I think it is better to remember these trivial properties/rules rather than going for the reasons which will take a significant amount of time.
