I know that missing questions in a row, affects the score badly, but could it bring down the score by >5 points?

I gave my first GMATPrep about 2 months back and my split was Q44 (didn't answer the last q'n) and V40 with overall score 690
I gave my second GMATPrep yesterday with the same overall score but a different split Q50 and V33. I got 5 questions in a row incorrect in verbal. I exited the exam in GMATPrep software, and so unfortunately could not go back to check, but I remember they were mostly early 30s (lets say question # 30-34 ). I got all 4 questions in a RC wrong and guessed the next CR as I spent too much time on that RC, leading to 5 incorrect questions in a row.

In my MGMAT CATs my verbal has beeb around 40. I feel that GMATPrep verbal is harder than MGMAT (the opposite is true about Q).

I'm worried about my verbal score in latest GMATPrep and since that's a more accurate predictor.
I know no one will know how much score was affected by my string of incorrect questions, but how much can I reasonably attribute this to the drop in verbal score and how much can I expect to score in the actual test(purely based on my mock test results).

Here are my mock test scores:
MGMAT CAT 1 (June 15) - 720 (Q48 V40)
MGMAT CAT 2(June 22) - 680 (Q46, V37)

GMATPrep 1 (June 23) - 690 (Q44, V40). Might have got little lucky on verbal (as I got couple of passages in areas I can easily relate to). Also didn't answer the last q'n in Q

MGMAT CAT 3(June 29) - 700 (Q47, V?)

MGMAT CAT 4,5,6 (all in Aug 8-15 spread evenly) - 740(on all 3 tests). Splits( test4:Q47,V45 , test5:Q49,V40 , test6: Q47, V44)

GMATPrep 2 (Aug 16) - 690 (Q50, V33) . 5 incorrect questions in a row (maybe q's #s:30-34)

Both the GMATPreps I wrote the essay and IR. In MGMAT - I did IR on last 3 CATs (no essays) and did only Q/V on CATs1-3

Btw, my real GMAT is coming up next week.
There seems to be a lot of inconsistency in the scores. Even in GMATPrep, though both the scores are 690, there is a huge variation in the section scores. Not really sure where I stand in terms of my scores? Really confused if I should postpone.

Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you have taken all the tests with strict official conditions i.e with AWA IR and only 8 min breaks then you will score somewhat in the range of - 670 - 710. Rescheduling the test depends on your target score, review whatever material you have got till the test day to maximize your effort on the test. If this is your first GMAT attempt, then you can always retake after a month, so you can go ahead with the test.
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.

I agree with sam2304,

The answer to the rescheduling question depends largely on your target score.
I suggest you take another practice test (or two) to help regain your confidence and help gauge where you stand.
Kaplan, Knewton and Veritas also offer free practice tests. See the links on the right-hand toolbar on this page.

Cheers,
Brent

Hi.. If you are looking for anything above 730 its time to re-think about your test dates.. But in case if you are satisfied with anything around 700 then brush up all the stuff in next 4 days and go ahead with the test.. I wish you all the best...Ultimately it all depends on your goal, target school and your overall profile... Please consider your complete profile and school in mind and take your decision.. Hope it helps...
