Can someone please explain the difference in author's tone between Skeptical and Cynical?

Skeptical means "having reservations" or "doubtful". Author will not easily be convinced, will be hard to persuade.

Cynical means "believing the worst of people",sarcastic, mocking. Author will be more sarcastic than doubtful.
