Answer D..sorry for the typo..
here goes the explanation..
2,880,717 mints ago .
u have to find the nearest multiple of 60 ( 60 for 60 mints in a hour) which is near 2,880,717 .
60* 48012 ( easy to find as you find the number which divisible by 6)
= 2,880, 720. this is 3 mints ahead of the given question.
hence the number should be 6:27 + 3 mints = 6:30.
hope this helps.let me know if u still need any clarification

sudhir3127,
Can you please add a few steps between..

here it goes..
All one has to do in this problem is find a multiple of 60 ( 60 is standard for 60 mints in an hour ) which nearer to
2,880, 717.. which 48012 ( i arrived @ that by finding multiple of 6)
60mints * 48012 mints = 2,880,720 mints . which 3 mints ahead of what the question has asked.
hence the answer would be 6:27 + 3 mints = 6:30

hey my understanding was suppose.
if the time now is 6'30 and u add up 2,880,720. u will get 6.30 in future as well. but we have to add up only 6,880,717 .hence this will take u to 3 mints less which 6.30 - 3 mints = 6.27 ( which is in the question).
let me know if am wrong in interpreting?

The answer is DCITI29 wrote:If it is 6:27 in the evening on a certain day, what time
in the morning was it exactly 2,880,717 minutes
earlier? (Assume standard time in one location.)
(A) 6:22
(B) 6:24
(C) 6:27
(D) 6:30
(E) 6:32
Can someone pls advise how to quickly solve this question?
Method:
if we have to calculate time 10 minutes before 6:27, it will be 6:17
Similarly,
if 5 minutes, then 6:22
if 15 minutes, then 6:12
if 25 minutes, then 6:02,
Therefore we only have to look at the unit digit to find the answer.
The unit digit is 7, any option with 0 at the end will be the answer.
Hence D.
Let me know if you still have any doubts.
