Nutrition labeling laws

Nutrition labeling laws should require manufacturer of packaged food items to provide explicit descriptions of nutritional benefits or potential adverse effects on the packaging of the food item. Currently, the labels are required only to list the ingredients of the food item and the amount of particular nutritional elements in the food. For example, the label on a snack bar indicates that it contains dried apples, sugar, and wheat flour and provides 2 grams of fat and 80 milligrams of sodium per serving. Although the information required by the current law helps people to make somewhat more informed choices about their diets, people would make much better decisions if the labels contained explicit descriptions of benefits and adverse effects.

The bolded phrases play which of the following roles in the argument above?

A. It cites a particular instance of the general principle that is at issue.

B. It provides a specific example of the type of label information advocated by the argument.

C. It states a position that must be refuted in order to establish the validity of the conclusion.

D. It states a position to which the author of the argument is responding.

E. It states a contingent prediction supporting the conclusion of the argument.

Ans: E

My explanation: Initially the author is arguing for "explicit descriptions of nutritional benefits or potential adverse effects on the packaging of the food item".
Later in the bold lines, author is giving an example of how benefits and effects would help their in decision making.
