Wanna Be's Reality show--no OA

by daretodream » Sun Feb 14, 2010 10:41 pm
A combination of anxiety and external pressure leads
to nausea. All the auditioners for the new reality show
Wanna Be's suffer from external pressure. Some of
the auditioners feel anxiety about performing well for
the producers, but others do not feel anxious. The
producers of Wanna Be's like to choose contestants
who feel anxiety.

Which of the following conclusions is most strongly
supported by the passage above?

A. The auditions for Wanna Be's cause more
performers to feel external pressure than do
auditions for other shows.

B. Most of the people who audition become
contestants on Wanna Be's.

C. There is more nausea among auditioners for
Wanna Be's than among producers of
Wanna Be's.

D.No auditioner who doesn't feel anxiety has
nausea.

E.Most of the auditioners for Wanna Be's who
become contestants have nausea.

A. The auditions for Wanna Be's cause more performers to feel external pressure than do auditions for other shows.
no data supporting this. Eliminated!
B. Most of the people who audition become contestants on Wanna Be's.
no data supporting this. Eliminated!
C. There is more nausea among auditioners for Wanna Be's than among producers of Wanna Be's.
no data supporting this. Eliminated!
D.No auditioner who doesn't feel anxiety has nausea.
Premise: Anxiety + External Pressure -> Nausea
No Anxiety doesn't necesarily mean no nausea coz there may be other factors that contribute to nausea... "no" is very strong and so it's not a good choice, but i'm inclined to keep it as a backup choice :P
E.Most of the auditioners for Wanna Be's who become contestants have nausea.[/quote
Premise 1: Anxiety + External Pressure -> Nausea
Premise 2: producers like to choose contestants who feel anxiety

so, assuming that the producers do in fact choose the contestants who feel anxiety (i'm a tad worried about this since liking something doesnt mean doing it e.g. simon likes the choosing blondes on american idol, but that doesn't mean he'll select them if they have a horrible voice. Anyways, if this is valid, and the producers do in fact have the final say on who becomes a contestant, then i guess this answer works. Too many ifs and buts, BUT, this appears to be the best answer.

Sars.. U exactly said "like to choose" is " not become".

SO D strongly holds its waters right?? It directly comes from the premises. I am not sure if this is a conclusion or inference based one....

A. out of scope

B.irrelevant

C. irrelevant

D.very very close but the fact states that a combination of anxiety and external pressure leads to nausea, but it won't deny that if this combination won't appear, nausea won't appear either. Therefore, there is still possibility that nausea could appear although one of those 2 elements doesn't appear. So, this choice fails

E. the producers like to choose contestant who feel anxiety-------> means that they mostly choose anxiety contestant, and rather not all the time choose anxiety contestant. So pick this

Which of the following conclusions is most strongly supported by the passage above?

A. The auditions for Wanna Be's cause more performers to feel external pressure than do auditions for other shows.
Incorrect : Comparison between performers in this show and other shows is out of scope.

B. Most of the people who audition become contestants on Wanna Be's.
Incorrect : This cannot be concluded from the passage above.

C. There is more nausea among auditioners for Wanna Be's than among producers of Wanna Be's.
Incorrect : lol where does nausea among producers come from? Total rubbish. Eliminated

D.No auditioner who doesn't feel anxiety has nausea.
Incorrect : This cannot be inferred from the passage.

E.Most of the auditioners for Wanna Be's who become contestants have nausea.
Correct : Nausea = external pressure + anxiety.... All auditioners suffer from external pressure + Producers choose auditioners who suffer from anxiety. Therefore most auditioners who become contestants have nausea.
