AB^2 = 2^2 +1^2 = 5akpareek wrote:In triangle ABC, the co-ordinates of A, B and C are (4,3), (6,2) and (T,-3) respectively and triangle is right angled at A. Find T.
A. 11
B. 8/5
C. -5/8
D. -6
E. -11
AC ^2 = (4-T)^2 + 6^2 = (4-T)^2 + 36
BC^2 = (6-T)^2 + 5^2 = (6-T)^2 + 25
AB^2+AC^2 = BC^2 =>
(6-T)^2 + 25 = (4-T)^2 + 36 +5
(6-T)^2 - (4-T)^2 = 16
(6-T - (4-T)) (6-T+4-T) = 16
2*(10-2T) = 16
10-2T =8
T =1
{at least that is what I got}
