Hi all,

I am planing to apply to a top tier business school with an application deadline in mid-July. The 80% intake range is 650-730, so I guess I need to score in the range of 700 to have a decent chance of acceptance.

So far, I have been browsing forums to plan my preparation... My weakness is math (simply dont remember the material too well... out of school for 11 years), so I have bought the Kaplan Math workbook to refresh the basic concepts. Additionally, I am planning to use the OG 11, the Manhattan GMAT sentence correction, the Kaplan book and maybe later Kaplan 800. Having read many positive comments about these books, I am also considering ordering the remaining Manhattan GMAT prep books. Am I missing any key materials here?

Crucially though, I am now at the point where I have to decide whether to take a course or not, and I think the Manhattan GMAT course looks promising, though I live in Europe and would have to take it online. Has anyone done/is anyone doing the Manhattan online course? Is it worth the time and cost, or would it be more efficient to focus on self-study alone?

I will be leaving my job within the next two weeks and wil have plenty of time to study for the GMAT. I did a GMAT prep test early last year before revising any math sections and scored 540 I think (with weak Q score) so I will need +160 points in the real thing.

I would appreciate any advice, especially regarding Manhattan's course.

1000 Thanks and good luck all!

Its good to have a schedule.

I don't know about Manhattan. But, I feel that its good to have a schedule, and some way of ensuring that the schedule does not get delayed.

I do a job on weekdays and consult on weekends. It would be difficult for me to study GMAT in a timebound manner with all my commitments at hand. I've joined a course because it ensures that I stick to a schedule. It is also one dedicated source of useful hints / tips / tricks instead of searching them across sites online. Fortunately, I'm doing a course where faculty is good, and the material they provide is excellent. I think its going to be worth the money for me.

You can sit in on the first class session of one of our courses for free, so might as well check it out and see whether you think it would be a good fit for you. You can find schedules and details about how to sit in for free on our web site (www.manhattangmat.com).

As far as whether to take a class at all, think about how you learned best in college. Did you study more on your own or in groups? Did you learn best from books or in class with your teachers? And, as the poster above suggested, think about how disciplined you are... I know I tend to procrastinate when it comes to something I'm not that excited about doing. :)

Good luck!

Dear Stacey,

I am interested in MGMAT Online 9 Session Prep but I want to clarify few things before finalizing. I am planning to give GMAT exams at the end of Oct 2011, exactly 3 months. I purchased all Manhattan books and read them 1 time as of now. Solved OG Quants and Verbal with 83% accuracy as of now. I didn't touch Online Tests of MGMAT or OG but now on I am thinking to start them too.

Since last week, I am thinking to buy Online course of MGMAT too. Now please sincerely advice me that whether it will be worthwhile to start Online Course when only 3 months are left to appear in GMAT text. If I take admission in course starting on 6 August 2011 (that suits me more), will I get all books and other materials in time. Though I have set of 8 books but I see some other books for Prep too.

Looking forward for prompt reply so I finalize as soon as possible. I seriously want to score high in GMAT but I'm quite weak in GMAT Verbal section.

Regards,
Saleem
