Hi Stacy,
Just giving you some background info about myself before I actually step into my dilemma
I have a score of 680(V 34, Q49). I have about 3.7 years of IT experience, Indian Male!.
My academic records are good, close to 90% in my engineering, University rank holder. (I am not sure how to convert my percentage to a scale of 5 CGPA).
I am currently working for a very reputed software firm based out of US having offices in India (I work in India for the firm).
I wanted to apply to a few schools this year, but unfortunately I felt my scores were not good and I had relatively less experience. I had plans to apply to Darden, Kenan-Flagler and NUS.
Unfortunately as I will be a part of the pool from India, and the average scores are really high, I felt 680 would not suffice. I plan to work for a year or two in between rewrite my GMAT - aiming for a good score of 730+ and I will have close to 5-6 years of experience.
And now to the dilemma.....
I have got an opportunity to go to the US as a contract employee through a consultant based out of India. I will be working under his firm for his clients. Though my consultant's clients are reputed names, my consultant is a small timer and does not carry much brand equity. Will this affect my admission process. Does working as a contract employee hamper my chances of getting into a good BSchool? May be after 1 year in the US I might look out for a permanent employment there. I am now worried whether I should take up my job on H1B as a contract employee or not? Please give me your suggestions.
Thanks
