Profile Evaluation Please

Hey everyone,

I found this site AFTER I took the GMAT the first time, but hopefully I won't have to take it again. If the consultants could please take a look at my stats I would love an eval.

GMAT 680
GPA 2.9
MAJOR Mechanical Engineering (Top 10 Engineering School)
MINOR Business
WORK 2 1/2 Years right now
Hispanic Male

I have sinse worked at a leading engineering company and have been a lead engineer on my project until it was canceled due to the economy. I have progressed quickly and my letters of rec show this.

I run a committee for the young employees that includes planning professional, social, volunteering, and networking events. A position that I was appointed to by the previous Chairman.

Personally I am a marathon runner and assistant coach.

I work in Houston and have applied to the UT MBA here and have made it to the interview stage. I will probably do this program if accepted, but I would rather wait a year and try to get into the full time. Do you guys think I have a shot? I don't want to turn down UT now only to be turned down later.

Thanks in advance

Hi B -
Thanks for your post. As you know, its hard to access your candidacy based on soley on your stats (as much of the decision also depends on your essays, LORs, career goals, etc).

That said, I think your GPA and GMAT scores are slightly on the lower end for Engineering candidates applying to a top 25 MBA program. If your interests are only at UT Austin, you might be more competitive there.

Regards,
