A certain city with a population of 132,000 is to be divided into 11 voting districts, and no district is to have population that is more than 10 percent greater than the population of any other district. What is the minimum possible population that the least populated district could have?

1. 10,700
2. 10,800
3. 10,900
4. 11,000
5. 11,100

Hi Mate,

Are you sure OA is E because I got answer as D.

Here is my explanation.

Let the minimum population be X
population of all other 10 cities will be 1.1x each so total will be 11X.

Now X+11X=132,000
12X=132,000
X=11,000
So the answer is D

I also tried with picking number but got the same answer 11,000.
Please check the OA again.

Hi guerrero,

rakeshd347's explanation is correct, so there must be a transcription error somewhere. The correct answer IS D.
