Unlike the Shiltes, who constitute the other major branch of Islam, the Sunnites do not await the Mahdi as a messenger from God, nor do they endow him with divine qualities or immunity from failure in judgment.

A: nor do they endow him
B: but they do not endow him
C: neither do they endow him
D: and they neither endow him
E: while endowing him neither.

please suggest whats the difference between nor and neither...in this sentence.

Clearly sentences means that.. The sunnites neither do x nor do y .

Structures like neither.. nor, not only.. but also and many more follow a specific order.

Also, there can be statements were neither can be avoided. But the negation and meaning can still be maintained, such as.." X do not.. nor do " types.

C is totally ruled out. Neither can't come in the latter stage of negation.

Nor is one of the conjunctions used (as used in the correct option A) to connect two independent clause.

Neither can't be used to connect two independent clauses.

One of the idioms is: Neither X nor Y.

However it is not mandatory that both 'neither' and 'nor' always come together.

Eg: Neither of my sons is planning to attend the function.

thnx guyz.. OA is A.

What i get from here is that nor can be used as a conjunction but neither cannot. But both neither and nor can be used separately. Is that correct?
