Hi,

Can anybody put some light on the uses of till and until? I would like know where they can be used interchangeably or specifically?

Till can be used interchangeable with until, although it's a more archaic/dialectic mode of speech.

It's unlikely you'll see it used as a synonym for until on a GMAT sentence correction question, although it would be grammatically correct.

You're more likely to see "till" used for a completely differerent meaning, e.g. "the gardener tilled the soil before planting his vegetables" or "the cashier put all the money in the till".

Hello,

I would like to add something more here to what Stuart has replied.

These words can be used interchangeably with no harm to the sentence semnatics at all. The only thing that separates the two is the different time of their origin and incorporation in the language per se.

Just a trivia ..

"To do is to be"

As far as I know, until is used in written english.
