Are the Kaplan CAT exams exclusive to Kaplan students of instructor led classes/tutors or are they available for purchase separately?

That's a very good question. I'm on the admissions consulting side so don't know the answer to that.
But, if you call 1 800 KAP TEST they can give you the answer. Alternatively, there is, I believe, a section on this site where you can ask Kaplan test prep that question but I think your quickest route is going to be just to call.
Incidentally, as a former teacher for Kaplan I can tell you that the tests are a very powerful teaching and learning tool. You are wise to see them as a very useful resource.

2) Premium GMAT Online (https://www.kaptest.com/GMAT/GMAT-Prep/O ... nline.html) includes our full 8 CATs, plus the Ultimate Practice Test -- a CAT that you take in a Pearson testing center with actual test-takers.
