A huge flying reptile that died out with the dinosaurs some 65 million years ago, the Quetzalcoatlus had a wingspan of 36 feet, believed to be the largest flying creature the world has ever seen.
(A) believed to be
(B) and that is believed to be
(C) and it is believed to have been
(D) which was, it is believed,
(E) which is believed to be

Solution as per OA: C

there needs to be a "is" before believed. Whats the OA?

Reason pls
A) Eliminate - believed to be is modifying the 36 foot wingspan
B) Eliminate - The word 'That' is ambiguous

D) Eliminate - 'which was' is is modifying the 36 foot wingspan which makes it appear as if the wingspan was the largest animal...
E) Eliminate - Same reason as D

Which leaves us with C, the correct answer.

Dont you think "it" in C points to wingspan rather than the Quetzalcoatlus??

we require haveover here which leaves with option C and remember one more rule i.e comma + fanboy according to which part after the comma should be an IC (independent clause)

You have to also consider the clarity of meaning! If 'It' were referring to the wingspan, then , if you read the entire sentence , it would mean that the wingspan is the largest flying creature the world has ever seen.

One could also say that the word 'it' is an ambiguous pronoun as it could also refer to dinosaurs; however, dinosaurs is plural and there is no way that 'it' could refer to dinosaurs. The same logic applies when comparing wingspan with Quetzalcoatlus. Wingspan is not an animal which leaves us with Quetzalcoatlus and thus makes the entire sentence appropriate.
