(D) as a result of the destruction of the library at Alexandria, the largest of the ancient world,
(E) Alexandria's largest library of the ancient world was destroyed, and the result was


This question has been discussed many times. I still have doubt.

when I read this sentence it seems

In A.D 391 modifies Later generation..

In A.D 391 , as a result of the destuction....., later generation lost all....

or is it that

In A.D 391 modifies "as a result of destruction .... Please clarify this
I am really confussed.

The phrase "In AD 391" modifies the verb "lost." This introductory phrase answers the question "WHEN did later generations LOSE all ... Greek epics?".

You mean : according to passage, destruction in Library at Alendria happened before A.D 391..

Am I right?
