D is better. A has modifier problem. "they??
B - again modifier.
C- who was a ...in her home.. not a matriarch in her home.
E- home that featured. incorrect.

I will go with D here.

The concept tested here is modifiers - relative pronouns. Relative pronouns such as who, that, which modify the noun closest to them. In D , "that" modifies festivals. E is incorrect because that here seems to be modifying home.
