A Suggestion To Private Tutors

by AbhiJ » Fri Dec 23, 2011 8:40 am
The GMAT Private tutoring market consists mainly of helping students who are struggling to raise their score and focussing on those selected students.

However see another unexplored market. A lot of students - read almost everyone - wants someone to analyse his/her test results and suggest a strategy/materials for the remaining period. This may involve like one or two sessions at the max - but it would cater to a larger pool of students.

I have done this with students, and I expect most tutors have, but it's not a common request. In my experience (so, this is anecdotal rather than scientific), the students who get more done in a structured tutoring or classroom environment are not the types who would follow a study plan on their own, so the people most likely to seek out a tutor are those less likely to want an independent plan. Conversely, those who like to follow a plan independently are less likely to seek out a tutor (for anything!) in the first place.
