I wanted to apply at Columbia and NYU Stern for their full time
GPA 2.8 in Engineering
GMAT 690
I have 10 years of consulting experience in technology out of which 3 years for a failed startup online business.
I have lived in 4 countries and currently living in NYC for last few years.
Experts, any suggestions on my chances in NYU stern and Columbia?

Hello,

From the information you've provided, I would conclude that both schools would be reaches, pretty high reaches, especially Columbia. With a relatively low GPA, you'd want a high GMAT to compensate when applying to schools of this level. It's not clear the scale of your career trajectory, but it would have to be outstanding to make you competitive with these numbers. The 690 GMAT itself isn't bad, but it's low for Columbia and not high enough to mitigate a 2.8 for NYU. I suggest researching some less competitive programs. In the New York area, Fordham is a strong program you might consider.
