To cite achievements in different application components

Hi,

In the analysis of MIT application material, there was a suggestion to include achievements in different application materials like covering letter, resume and essays etc. Is it required that they be completely distinct? For example, can an achievement introduced in the covering letter be expanded as an essay?

Thanks for watching the video.

Yes. You can definitely expand in an essay on an item mentioned in the cover letter. The main point is to avoid duplication and to avoid talking about one crowning achievement repeatedly to the detriment of other accomplishments and interests. You don't want to seem like a one-trick pony.
