IMO A. (Assuming that the full stop after animals and causing with capital C is a typo. The full stop is actually a comma)

Main clause, verb+ing modifier - modifies the action in the main clause. Here action in the main clause is bitten by snakes etc, so causing is correctly modifying that action. The use of was bitten eliminates the possibilities of fragments.

B - Removing modifiers, it says that Vincent's hairless cat, Meowie caused Meowie to fear contact with all other living creatures - Absurd

C - ...animals; to cause Meowie to fear contact - It is necessary to have an independent clause after semicolon.

D - This sentence is of the form Subject+verb+object, +verb+object - Sentence fragment.

E - Relative clause - which caused Meowie to fear contact... is modifying the nearest noun animals.

Thus A is correct.

I disagree with A.

A is completely wrong.

After period(.) Second part of the sentence must stand on its own (i.e It should be Independent Clause. )
Also, its not clear what is causing Meowie to fear??

D is perfect.

Two Independent clauses connected properly with ", and"

IC, and IC --> gramatically correct

Also, it clearly refering "experiences caused Meowie to fear"



B,E --> looks like "other animals" caused Meowie to fear.. thats not correct.

If the period in A is not a typo then it is indeed a sentence fragment. D would be the best answer in that case.

A ...... If there is a "period" after animals. Then this is incorrect else if it's a comma .... My vote will go for A.

In B bitten being a participle -ed form modifies closest noun which here is street hence wrong.

In C Semicolon should separate two Independent clauses, to cause to..... is not an independent clause .. Hence incorrect

In D I don't find any issue .... Apart from being a bit wordy.

In E which is modifying snakes, rodents and other animals ( some of the posts here mentioned that which just modifies "other animals" which is not correct ) but it's not these animals but having bitten by them ( the experiences ) caused the fear... hence E is also ruled out.

I will go with A, incase it's a comma else go with D

This is ugly sentence, but I will join the party and go with D.

D was bitten by snakes, rodents, and other animals, and these experiences caused Meowie to fear contact - we don't have anything else to choose. Therefore, choose this
E bitten by snakes, rodents, and other animals, which caused Meowie to fear contact - missing verb

I too came across this sentence and found the thread already over here.

The OA is D

Choice D is the answer here because of the conjunction "and" connects two clauses that can both stand on their own as sentences (independent clauses).

Choice A is a sentence fragment.
Choice B illogically states that "Meowie... caused Meowie to fear contact... "
Choice C incorrectly uses a semicolon to connect a dependent clause to an independent clause.
Choice E contains a misplaced modifier.
