How to put everything together?

I am reading and reviewing everything from Manhattan SC. Can people offer me some tips on how to tie everything together? For example, when I look at a sentence, what are some good ways to kind of run through the topics to know that the sentence is wrong or correct?

Also what are some general strategies for SC?

Do the excercises at the end of each chapter. Doing so, you will really learn the concepts. The tie up will happen naturally.
