INSEAD Recommendations

by momentary_lapse » Mon Jul 23, 2007 11:58 am
Hi Stacy,

Was wanting to know more about the choice of recommenders for INSEAD:

1) They want only two recommenders - people who have seen me in a professional setting
2) I work for a consulting firm and so my current manager is an account manager who has many accounts under him. He rarely interacts with me, maybe just once a month when he comes visiting this client. He would be able to write about what I do and what the impact is to the organization.
3) I also know someone who is a director of the cricket association where I play and he can give a recommendation about my leading the cricket team and organizing an event.
4) The other recommendation is from the client who I work with daily and who would be able to provide the most accurate evaluation of me.

Whom should I choose between the director of the circket association and my current manager?

Thanks

Hi momentary_lapse,

You definitely want to use your current supervisor. It's generally a required recommendation, and will most certainly carry more weight than the cricket captain.

Since your current supervisor doesn't see you much, it is important for you to remind him of your accomplishments. It would probably be useful to write him a short bulleted list of some of the things you have done while working there that he could mention in the letter.

Good luck!
