Your profile is clearly strong. You are, however, right that you will be competing against a great many technically-trained individuals from India with high GMAT scores and strong work records. You need to look closely at your own experience to determine how it differs from all the other IT professionals who will be applying. Think about the negative stereotypes of IT staff and look to counteract those. IT people are often seen as sole producers who do not have management responsibility. To the extent you have shown leadership and had responsibility for direct reports you should stress those aspedcts of your background.
Having patents is impressive, but you need to make those achievements relevant to business school. They are not hiring you to invent a new technology; rather they are deciding whether you have the potential to use the skills they will give you and whether you can contribute in the classroom. Identify the most managerial and leader-like attributes of the patent process and relate those to your business goals.
You are presumable capable of handling the work in the most selective programs. That does not mean you will be accepted. If you are determined to go to graduate school next year, be sure you include a range of schools including "stretch", "sweet spot", and "safety" schools. A seasoned admissions consultant can help you identify schools that meet you needs and offer a strong chance of acceptance.
Good luck,
