All of the furniture for sale at Al's Discount Furniture is offered for less than the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP). Once a year, Al's holds a clearance sale. If Jamie purchased a certain desk during the sale, did she get a discount of more than 50% of Al's regular price for the desk?

(1) Al's regular price for the desk is less than 60% of the MSRP of $2000.

(2) The sale price was $600 less than Al's regular price for the desk.

(1) Al's regular price for the desk < 0.6(2000) = $1,200, but we don't know the regular price for desk. So, we cannot say whether Jamie got a discount of 50% or more.
So, (1) is NOT SUFFICIENT.

(2) Sale price = Al's regular price - $600, which again is NOT SUFFICIENT.

Combining (1) and (2), Sale price = (Al's regular price for the desk < $1200) - 600
(We can take an example here: If Al's regular price for the desk = $1,199, then sale price = 599; comparing the two we can see that the discount is more than 50%)
This implies that Jamie got a discount of more than 50%.

The correct answer is
(C)
.
