Hello,

This is from GMATPrep s/w:

If a, b, and c are integers, what is the value of ?

1) (a-7)(b-7)(c-7) = 0
2) bc = 18

OA: C

Thanks for your help.

Hi
I have come across this question, Its asking for the value of a :)

Here is my approach:

From statement 1 : (a-7)(b-7)(c-7) = 0
(a-7)=0 or (b-7)=0 or (c-7)=0
In other words, either a=7 or b=7 or c=7
Therefore, Not suff

From statement 2: bc = 18
value of a is not given.
Therefore, Not suff

Combining the 2 statements

Since its given that a,b,c are integers, b & c are certainly not equal to 7 (as bc=18=2*3*3).
Therefore a=7

ANS C

Hope it helps :)

Hello Anup,

It should be 'a' as Ashmita rightly pointed out. Sorry for my oversight. @Ashmita, thanks for your help.

Best Regards,
