When 1/10 percent of 5,000 is substracted from 1/10 of 5,000 the difference is:

a) 0
b) 50
c) 450
d) 495
e) 500

PS: the correct answer is D

Can you please clarify it to me? I don't get the book explanation.

1/10 of 5,000 = 500
1/10% of 5,000 = 0.1% of 5,000 = (0.1/100)5,000 = 5
500 - 5 = 495

The correct answer is (D).
