Among the emotions on display in the negotiating room were anger for repeatedly raising the issue over and over again andpreventing the raw wounds from earlier battles from ever beginning to heal.
(A) were anger for repeatedly raising the issue over and over again and preventing the raw wounds from earlier battles from ever beginning to heal
(B) was anger for repeatedly raising the issue and preventing the raw wounds from earlier battles from ever beginning to heal
(C) were anger over repeatedly raising the issue and preventing the raw wounds from earlier battles to begin healing
(D) was anger about the issue, which was raised over and over, and preventing the wounds from earlier battles, still raw, to begin healing
(E) were anger about the issue, which was raised repeatedly, and preventing the raw wounds from earlier battles to begin to heal

The OA is B.

Please clarify on 2 things -
1. Shouldn't it be 'were' instead of 'was'(emotions - plural) ?
2. Why 'over and over again' is ommited?

I go with 'A'.

Among the emotions was anger.

Eg: Among the children was John and not among the children were John

If u rewrite the senetence this would be clear.

The anger for repeatedly raising the issue over and over again and preventing the raw wounds from earlier battles from ever beginning to heal was among the emotions on display in the negotiating room.

Over and Over again is redundant.

Repeatedly conveys the same meaning as "Over and Over again"

Below is one of the questions in 11th edition OG, plz look at the non underlined sentence it uses 'were' ..plz clarify

Among the objects found in the excavated temple were small terra-cotta effigies left by supplicants who were either asking the goddess Bona Dea’s aid in healing physical and mental ills or thanking her for such help.

Among is a preposition.The subject will not be in prepositional phrases.

In the og 11 sentence small terra-cotta effigies(plural) is the real subject and hence plural were is used. It's is not because of objects that "were" is used.

In the above instance, were refers to small terra-cotta effigies & these are plural, that is why 'were' is required.

In the question that you posted originally, "Among the emotions on display in the negotiating room were anger ...", 'anger' is singular & so should be preceded by a singular verb instead of plural. That is why 'was' is required.
