How many liters of a solution that is 15 percent salt must be added to 5 liters of a solution that is 8 percent salt so that the resulting solution is 10 percent salt?

This is an example in the OG so there is are no answer choices.

5(8/100)=8/20=.4 L salt.

There are x liters of a solution that's 15% salt.

.15(x) L salt

.4+.15(x)/5+x=1/10

4+1.5(x)=5+x

.5(x)=1

x=2 L

Correct. For some reason I am having a problem conceptualizing dividing the '5 + x' part.

5+x simply indicates the total number of liters in the mixture.
