A can manufacturing company has 5 identical machines, each of which produces cans at the same constant rate. How many cans will all 5 machines produce running simultaneously for z hours?
(1) Running simultaneously, 3 of the machines produce 72,000 cans in 2z hours.
(2) Running simultaneously, 2 of the machines produce 24,000 cans in z hours.

3 machines produce 36,000 cans in z hours
Since each machine works at the same rate, we can say that each machine produces 12,000 machines per z hours. So, all 5 running for z hours would produce 60,000 cans
Sufficient

(2)
2 machines produce a total of 24,000 cans which means 1 machine makes 12,000 cans per z hours, thus 5 machines would make 60,000 cans
Sufficient

So, according to me, answer should be (D)

1) 72,000 cans / (2z hours * 3 units) = 12,000/z cans per hour per unit

12,000/z cans/(hr*unit) * z hours * 5 units = 60,000 cans

Sufficient.

2) 24,000 cans / (z hours * 2 units) = 12,000/z cans per hour per unit

12,000/z cans/(hr*unit) * z hours * 5 units = 60,000 cans

Sufficient.
