Classroom courses- Worth it?

Im trying to decide whether to take an online course vs a classroom course. The only classroom course that is available to me is from Kaplan. I need to boost my practice scores significantly. Has anyone taken a classroom course before and was it worth the dough? I have my reservations, but am willing to pursue if it helps.

I'm probably biased, but consider Manhattan GMAT--it's a highly regarded prep service focused only on the GMAT.

studying on my own like crazy but am not making the progress i would like on my own. This website has been very helpful and kudos to you for putting this thing together. Unfortunately the only classroom course available to me where I live is Kaplan. I just dont know if it will be worth it but am feeling as though I have not made the progress necessary to score well. what about online courses? My practice tests so far have not been encouraging.

I am doing Princeton Review's online course and I would recommend it over Kaplan's course. You can still talk to instructors, and you can do one with live lectures if you've got the bucks. (I didn't do that one, but it hasn't been an issue so far. The lessons are customized to my progress (or lackthereof, haha) so that's kind of like having a tutor.)

Sounds like you're not crazy about Kaplan so I'd definitely do something else. On the other hand, if you tried their books and liked their approach, it could work for you. Look at some materials for the various companies and see what might fit.

I won't comment on competitors' programs, but I can tell you that, in our end-of-course survey, we specifically ask our online students whether they think the Virtual Live format was more effective, as effective, or less effective than an in-person live class. It's rare for people to say that it's less effective - typically about 1/3 say it's more effective and about 2/3 say it's as effective. In fact, I think I've had one person, ever, in my own virtual courses say that it was less effective - and I've taught hundreds of students in that format. :)
