Absolute value equations yield 2 solutions, just like quadratic equations
|x+2| = 4 means x = 2 or x = -6.
(1) says x does NOT equal 2 or -2. x =-6 by default. Sufficient.
(2) says x = +/- 6. x = -6 then. Sufficient.
Note that if you end up with different answers from (1) and (2), then something went wrong and (d) cannot be the answer. If both are sufficient, you should receive the same x = -6 solution for both statements.
