Knewton Problem doubt- Experts Help!

On the knewton quant lesson their is a problem that asks to find the "multiples and factors of 12, 16 and 18 between 1 and 75."

To me it sounded that we would have to exclude 1 and 75 and look at numbers between them whereas when the question was solved by the tutors they included 1 in the factors. Do we always include the border values in GMAT questions. Does the phrase- 'between 1 and 75' automatically include 1 and 75.

I found the question to be a little ambiguous. Should it not be numbers between 1 and 75 inclusive or something. Or is this the usual way the GMAT frames the question.


Hoping you could clear this.

Hi,
I am no expert, but I believe I make some sense.
Your analysis is fine. Integers between 1 and 75(unless inclusive is stated) means integers from 2 to 74. Btw, if you can mention the session and the time frame of the lesson, I will check that part as well.

I did it considering values from 2 to 74 but the tutors included 1 as well.

Hi,
Okay. I just checked that part. The question is actually :
'Which of the following numbers have exactly as many unique positive factors as unique multiples between 1 and 75?'
12,16,18.
Everything is fine with this question. When it comes to factors we need to count all the factors(including 1).
'between 1 and 75' applies only to the multiples.

Yeah it does make sense when you look at it that way. But it makes it more of an English interpretation question than a maths one. Though I still think the language could be made better and more understanding.
