Decimals - Manhattan Gmat

by shanice » Mon Apr 09, 2012 5:39 am
Hi all,

I know this looks very simple but I don't understand the explanation in the text.Please see below:-

Let us define symbol[x]to represent the largest integer less than or equal to x.

What is [0.8]?

Explanation in the text : According to the definition again, [0.8]is the largest integer less than or equal to 0.8.That integer is 0.So [0.8]=0.

Why the answer is not 1?

Please help.

Thank you.

It asks for largest Integer less than equal to 0.8.

Set of integers less than equal to 0.8 will be {.....-3, -2, -1, 0 };

Largest among them is 0.
