Because of less availability and greater demand for scientific research, platinum remains consistently expensive, like gold.
A> Because of less availability and greater demand for scientific research, platinum remains consistently expensive, like gold.
B> Because of less availability and increased demand for scientific research, platinum remains consistently expensive, like that of gold.
C> Because of decreased availability and increased demand in scientific research, platinum remains expensive, like gold.
D> Because of decreased availability and increased demand for scientific research, platinum remains expensive, like gold.
E> Because of decreased availability and greater demand in scientific research, platinum remains at a consistently high price, like that of gold.

Oa is C

Question: The answer choice A is considered wrong because of the presence of 'less' and 'greater'. I am aware that they are comparison operators , but we can never us ethem standalone ? Could an expert share some thoughts please. There is another error as well in this sentence of redundancy.

less and greater should be used for comparisons only. Thus a,b,e are wrong
but why is d) incorrect?
demand for is correct i guess.

Hi,
'demand for scientific research' conveys different meaning. It means people demand for more scientific research to be done and this demand need not have an impact on the cost of platinum
'demand in scientific research' means demand for platinum(in this case) in scientific research which has an obvious impact on the cost of platinum.
Cheers!

Platinum's demand in scientific research.. is the meaning here
Scientists wants more platinum for test conditions as it is good at conduction.. or probably anyother reason..
First take: 640 (50M, 27V) - RC needs 300% improvement
Second take: coming soon..
